St Lukes Cranham with Moor Lane Church

Services - Children's groups on a Sunday morning

We want all ages to feel welcome and part of the church. Everyone starts our Sunday morning services together with songs, prayer and Holy Communion on some Sundays. Most Sundays (apart from the "Invite A Friend" service at St Luke's and the Early Service and All-Age Service at Moor Lane where all ages stay together for the whole service) there are special groups, traditionally called "Sunday School", for children during the morning service.

For the primary school age and younger we ask that parents go with their children for the first time both to see where they are and to fill out a registration form. You also need to collect your children at the end of the service. Parents are also welcome to stay with their children or go as seems appropriate.

Creche on a Sunday morningBabies and toddlers to around 2 1/2 years

Where: Crèche at St Luke's

What's it about: We don't want their (or your!) first experience of church being a stressed adult trying to keep them quiet, and we expect some noise and movement. We also provide a room well-equipped with toys and staffed by a team of helpers to make their morning an enjoyable one. You are welcome to stay with your child or leave them with the team so you can be part of the service.

(On the "Invite A Friend" service we have some toys at the back of the church where you can stay with your children and still see and hear what's going on.)

There is currently no baby/toddler group at Moor Lane Church. However, for babies and toddlers up to four years old, some toys are put out in a room with a TV link to the service where parents can sit with their children if they wish.

Pebbles on a Sunday morning

What's it about: The teams run a session of singing, games and activities centred around appropriate Bible stories, with the opportunity to pray and enjoy discovering more about God and to understand their own and other's value to God.

School years 7 - 9

Pathfinders group

Where: Pathfinders at St Luke's and Moor Lane

What's it about: Parents might think of it as "Sunday School for 11-14 year olds" but things have moved on in one generation. The Bible is brought to life with interactive teaching, games and craft, turning familiar passages into practical application.

School years 10 - 11CYFA group

Where: CYFA at St Luke's and Moor Lane

What's it about: By the time they get to this age, 15-18 years, they want to come to church of their own accord, and CYFA is one of the reasons why. A no holds barred approach to current events and Biblical teaching. If it's on TV, at the cinema or just a wild rumour this is the place to sort out the fact from fiction, and have a laugh in the process. Suitable for those who know nothing about God and for those who feel they know lots.
