Alpha Logo

Our next course starts on Tuesday 23rd September 2008
with an introductory talk Christianity: Boring, Untrue and Irrelevant?

We then meet for the following nine Tuesday evenings (except Tuesday 28th October) to discuss the key issues relating to the Christian faith, including:

  • Who Is Jesus?Alpha course dining
  • Why Did Jesus Die?
  • How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?
  • Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
  • Why and How Do I Pray?
  • How Does God Guide Us?
  • How Can I Resist Evil?
  • Why and How Should We Tell Others?
  • Does God Heal Today?
  • What About the Church?
  • How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?

All of these meetings are held at St Luke's Church. Each evening we gather together at 7.30pm and start with a meal at 7.45pm followed by a talk lasting 20-25 minutes.

We aim to be jargon-free and down-to-earth as well as thought-provoking.

Following the talk we break into small discussion groups; these groups are what many people say they find the most valuable times of the whole Alpha course. They provide a space to ask questions, express opinions and to discuss the topic of the day. They also give an opportunity to make friends and to bounce ideas around in a relaxed non-threatening environment; ask anything - no question is too simple or hostile. You won't be expected to agree with everything that's said, but there should be more than enough to get people talking!

We aim to finish around 9.45pm.

We will also hold an away-day on Saturday 15th November where we spend a little longer discussing:

  • Who Is the Holy Spirit?
  • What Does the Holy Spirit Do?
  • How Can I Be Filled With the Spirit?

We sometimes run a weekend breakfast course. If this would suit you better than the more traditional evening course, then please let us know.
